Empower Our Families
God has a unique design for the family as the focal point of society. The foundation of that design is marriage between one man and one woman. Parenting, education, and other issues essential to creating a solid foundation for the next generation, are interrelated with the fundamental concept of marriage. Many may often connect family breakdown with generational poverty, poor academic performance of children, prison terms, violence, and crime. However, defining the breakdown of family in terms of those issues exclusively, translates into understanding family breakdown as an issue that only affects minorities and working poor. All Americans must see the urgent need to protect all American families, black or white. As Americans, we are inextricably connected. This is a time when the entire nation needs to decide whether it will honor God’s original pattern for families or attempt to go its own way.
Let’s speak out to preserve the definition of marriage for the generation to come!

STAY EMPOWERED
The media portrays families of all types: grandparents-as-parents, gay-male families, lesbian families, as well as traditional families. Overtime, the average American has become more comfortable with the idea of homosexuality and family. The lack of fathers in the home, the increased divorce rates, and the idea of marriage as “old-fashioned” has worked to decrease the value of marriage and family.

If we are to save marriage, our efforts must surpass rhetoric and individualism. The first step is an easy one- - -do not be silent. Communicate with your Congressman by waging your own letter writing campaign with your small group, parents’ circle, or neighbors. Secondly, be informed. Read up on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and local legislation being passed in your communities.
